This work was born in a moment of melancholy, a feeling that I often explore through the male figure, seeking to unravel its fragility and strength in a single stroke.

They all speak of what is not said, of what is felt in silence.

The texture of the Canson paper allowed me to capture soft shadows, delicate details that seem to be on the verge of disappearing, like memories themselves. There is in this piece a stillness that is not calm, but a suspended moment, a deep breath before facing something we know awaits us.

Masculinity here is neither heroic nor perfect; it is human, vulnerable, and that is why it is so real. Creating this work was a way to look at myself in the reflection of a shared emotion, to capture the ephemerality of an instant that, although full of weight, invites us to move forward.

How do you frame your new work?

Bran Sólo's work is sent unframed for security reasons, to avoid damage due to glass breakage and to reduce shipping and customs costs for international shipments. However, it is very easy to find a frame for your new work.

All reproductions and special editions have a standard size of A4, A3 or 50x70cm. This makes it easy and inexpensive to find a ready-made frame to fit the work.

The original works are usually the same size, except for some works on paper with artistic formats. This means that you will be able to frame almost any artwork with ready-made frames that you can find in home decor stores.

In the description of each artwork you can find the approximate size, but we recommend waiting to receive the artwork at home before ordering a personalized passepartout (see below).

Oil paintings on wood do not need framing or glass, they are ready to hang when you receive them. All have been varnished with UV filter and dust protection to ensure their durability.

- Reproductions: The sizes are A4 (21x29,7cm), A3 (29,7x42cm), or 50x70cm. You can find frames in IKEA, LEROY MERLIN, or MICHAEL'S

- Originals: If the size of the work does not correspond to the standard frame sizes of your country, or you want to use a frame that you have at home, simply find a frame with a larger size and order a passepartout or mat with that frame size, and with a window of the size of the work (-4mm security).
You have online stores selling passepartouts at Europe and in USA .
This way, you will have an economical frame and the work will breathe in the outline, being cleaner and more elegant. You can always make a custom frame, to your liking, depending on your budget.

Guide to symbols in the work of Bran Sólo

The sea: Infinite place of calm, love, perfection, home.
Teeth: Pain, loss, fear.
Tentacle: Attempt to reach, to contain, to trap.
Houses in flames: The home that has been left behind and to which we can never return. Burning the past. To forget. Sometimes it burns and disappears, sometimes it is engulfed by the sea.
Hand with open eye: Hope, saved from shipwreck.
Key at the bottom of the sea: Secrets.
Couple of swifts: Love, dependence, union, couple.
Big ears: Proof that the character is undoubtedly a good person. A child with big ears has to learn to be a good person to survive.
Marks under the eyes: Sadness, dark circles under the eyes, sleepless nights.
Neck marks: Beard, maturity, masculinity.
Circle in the throat: Anguish, choking, lump in the throat.
Narwhals: Narwhals cannot be kissed.
Shipwreck: The frustration of unrequited love.
Constellations: A guide to understanding the incomprehensible. Many of the constellations are random, but they surely exist somewhere in some world.
Red plant: Emotions trying to escape. This plant, Man's Love (Tradescantia) grows everywhere, especially in the cracks between the rocks. The body is the rock, the heart a crack, and from there grow the feelings that try to escape and grow towards the infinite, in search of that which we all long for.
Deformed, blurred eye: Reference to the artist's visual impairment. Fear of blindness. Single point of view.
